![]() ![]() Best Weight Loss Supplements - Fish Oil, Protein Powder and Multivitamin. Alright, fine. You want an article about the best weight loss supplements? But before I do, there's something very important I need to explain first. What do I mean by that, you ask? Quite simply, they MUST meet the following 2 requirements. ![]() First, they must be scientifically proven to be useful or beneficial in some way. I don't fall for stupid marketing crap and false claims. I only believe science, facts and real world results. If it's even remotely dangerous or unsafe in any way, I'm not interested. The reason for taking supplements is to help improve our bodies, not hurt them.
Fish Oil. While this list isn't in any specific order, fish oil would still be at the very top of my list of recommended supplements. Well, how shall I put this. Now how's that for a description? Well, fish oil contains the omega 3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which are the VERY BEST fats. What makes them the best, you ask? Fish oil has also been shown to either help improve or prevent Alzheimer's disease and dementia, depression, heart disease, cancer, arthritis, diabetes, hyperactivity, ADHD and more. But, you're probably wondering what specifically makes it one of the best weight loss supplements, right? This includes improved insulin sensitivity and calorie partitioning (meaning calories would be more likely to be used for something useful rather than get stored on your body as fat). And when you add any possible fat loss benefits to that long list of general health benefits I mentioned earlier, you can clearly see why fish oil is at the top of my list of recommended weight loss supplements. Protein is an essential part of every diet no matter what your goals are (weight loss, building muscle, just being healthy in general, etc.), as it plays a key role in muscle, cell and organ function as well as being present in bone, skin and hair. This is all very obvious information, right? So then, what the hell is it doing on a list of the best weight loss supplements? In order to lose weight, we need to be alive, healthy and functioning properly. If a multivitamin contains the things our bodies need to help make this happen, then it indirectly helps make weight loss happen. Obviously we were meant to get these important vitamins and minerals through the foods we eat, but unfortunately, the average person these days doesn't eat the way the human body was meant too. This usually leads to most diets being low in many of the good things it shouldn't be low in. It sort of works as your diet's backup plan. That's exactly why I take one. My diet is quite good. I eat better and healthier than most of the population. But, I still love the idea of taking a multivitamin each day to serve as my little nutrition insurance policy making sure my body gets everything it needs everyday. That's why I take a multivitamin, and that's why it's on my list of the best weight loss supplements. Of course, many of the brands tested contained more or less of certain vitamins and minerals than they were supposed to, which isn't so great. I personally use and fully recommend GNC's Mega Men for men, and for women I like GNC's Women's Ultra Mega. How to Break a Weight Loss Plateau. If there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that you’re at one point or another going to hit a weight loss plateau. What you decide to do at that time is going to have a large impact on your success. The following 8 tips will help you out when you inevitably reach that sticking point. Be Patient. This needs to be said, as even the most patient of people suddenly become impatient when it comes to weight loss. If it’s only been a week, or even just a month and your weight hasn’t changed, don’t stress out. Weight loss is a process, not an event. If you’re consistently eating right and exercising, the body fat will come off. Notice I said body fat. It’s important to make that differentiation right now. The important thing is that you’re making progress. Weight is not the only measurement of success. Carbohydrate Cycling. This is one of my favorite eating methods for those people that are carbohydrate sensitive. You are able to eat just as many carbohydrates as usual, but instead, you mix up low carb and med/high carb days. Stick those high carb days on intense workout days, and use the low carb days for when you’re resting. Increase Your Calories For a While. As our weight goes lower, so does our calorie intake. How low can you really go though? Your metabolism slows down as you lose weight, and rightfully so. Give your body a break and try increasing your calories to maintenance levels for a week. I think you’ll find that once you return to a hypo- caloric environment your weight loss progress will pick back up. Let your body know that it’s not starving. Try a Different Workout Routine. Nutrition is just one part of the fat loss equation, although it is the biggest part. Exercise also plays a large role. It’s not uncommon for your strength training progress to stall out when eating fewer calories. It’s imperative that you maintain your muscle mass as you lose weight, or else the weight you lose will be valuable muscle. If you find that you aren’t making strength progress anymore, but your nutrition is spot on, try changing up your routine. It might be all that you needed to get over your plateau.
